Kids Bible (“Kids Bible”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your child’s privacy. This Privacy Policy applies to Kids Bible and its various versions and is part of our Terms of Use. By accessing or using our Application, you acknowledge and fully understand this Privacy Policy and freely consent to the practices described here.
Kids Bible is an app in Apple’s Made for Kids category. We have designed every part of this app — and this policy — around the principle of collecting as little information as possible. None of the data collected by this app is linked to your child’s identity.
We collect the following categories of data, none of which is linked to your child’s identity:
Character Name — Used for App Functionality, stored on-device
The app asks you to choose a character name for the main child character in stories. We recommend a biblical name such as David, Sarah, Ruth, or Noah; you may use any name you wish. The app does not ask for, and does not need, the child’s real name.
The character name is stored only on the device, in standard iOS user preferences. It is not sent to the AI provider that writes story text, and it is not sent to the AI provider that generates illustrations — both receive only a placeholder token ([CHILD_NAME]), which is replaced with the chosen character name locally after the story is returned to the device. The character name is included in narration text sent to the text-to-speech provider so that the narrator can pronounce it; no other identifying metadata is attached to that request.
Age Range and Story Preferences — Used for App Functionality
You may enter the child’s age and pick story preferences (story length, vocabulary level, narrator voice, rhyming, modern parallels). Age is sent to our AI provider as a coarse age band (for example, “young child (5-7)”) — never as a specific number. Story preferences are sent so the AI can shape the story appropriately. None of this is linked to your child’s identity.
On iOS 26 and later, with the parent’s consent, we may use Apple’s Declared Age Range API to receive a coarse age band that the parent has already approved through Family Sharing’s child account setup. When that band is provided by Apple, we use it in place of the manual age picker. The parent can decline sharing at the system prompt; if so, the manual picker is used instead. In either case, no birth date is transmitted to us.
Anonymous Device ID — Used for App Functionality, and Other Purposes
An anonymous device identifier is collected to ensure secure and reliable AI service routing. This identifier is not linked to your child’s personal identity and is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Purchase History — Used for App Functionality
If a parent makes an in-app purchase, transaction data is processed by Apple and RevenueCat to manage the subscription. This data is used only to provide access to premium features. For child accounts, Apple’s “Ask to Buy” feature routes the purchase request to the family organizer for approval before any transaction completes.
Other Data Types — Used for App Functionality
Anonymous service data, including IP address, is collected by our AI routing proxy to ensure secure AI service delivery. This data is not linked to your child’s identity.
This section describes in detail how Kids Bible processes story generation, in keeping with Apple’s App Store Review Guidelines and applicable children’s privacy laws.
When a story is generated, the following is sent to our AI provider (OpenRouter, Inc., via the AIProxy routing service):
[CHILD_NAME] — not the character name you chose.The character name is never transmitted to the text AI. On-device, after the story is returned, the placeholder is replaced with the chosen character name for display and narration.
When narration audio is generated, the rendered story text — which contains the character name in the spoken sentences, so that the narrator can pronounce it — is sent to our TTS provider (ElevenLabs, via AIProxy). The TTS provider receives only the text and voice settings; no other identifying metadata is attached. Because the recommended character names are biblical, the value the TTS provider receives is typically indistinguishable from any other biblical name appearing in the story.
Image prompts are generated by the text AI and describe biblical scenes. The character-name placeholder is intentionally left in place in image prompts and is not substituted on-device, so that the image provider never receives the character name in any form.
No. Generated stories and audio are returned to the device for local playback and history. Our AI and TTS providers process the request and return the result; we do not maintain copies of prompts, generated stories, or audio on our own servers.
